After 41 years of coaching football, teaching high school and establishing Speed Strength Training (SST), Steve now dedicates his time to being CEO of SST in Rancho Murieta, California.  Steve was the 1995 NSCA Strength Coach of the Year and was nominated for this prestigious award again in 1998.  A noted speaker and author, Steve has dedicated his entire career to optimizing athletic performance for high school athletes and students.  The SST System Training Manual is currently being used nationally in over 500 high schools across America.

Box Drill

One of the TEN speed drills in the "SST Big 100".   Can be done 1 on 1 or 50 to 1 using a long set of stadium or gym bleachers !  The box drill reinforces the FIVE fundamentals of tecnical speed mechanics:  focus, rotate, high foot,  ball of foot and upright body position.

The first of the 10 Dynamic Warmup (DWU) exercises in the SST Big 100.  These exercises should be done daily for 5-10 minutes before every training session and practice !  These exercises form the foundation of the SST training system.

Line and Patterns

As you prepare to begin the summer training cycle dont forget about the "first 50" exercises: lateral speed and agility.  This is best executed in the weightroom prior to strength training or on opposite days.  To create a "uniform model of instruction" install lines and patterns........or contact me at SST and we can do it for you !
